Foundation
Hydraulic and pneumatic actuators are used extensively throughout industry for various mechanical applications. The systems that employ the actuators, rams, jacks or winches depend upon their functionality: therefore it is vital that they are kept in pristine condition. Internal seals and piston surfaces are inevitable prone to damage and wear with the rate of deterioration depending upon the working environment. If unchecked, fluid leaks soon occur, significantly reducing the efficiencies of the actuator to do work and rending it unsafe for continued use.

SMS has the in-house facilities to refurbish, overhaul and maintain actuators, rams, jacks or winches of all sizes and capacities. Our professional service report recommends remedial actions for any eventuality, with all records and reports kept on file for background history. We have remained at the forefront of seal technology and legislative procedures to ensure that all repairs comply with the latest specification. As one of the core facilities, the company offers an all year round 24-hour fast track service to minimise downtime.

The service extends to site locations and includes a removal / refit service where required. In addition to servicing we can design and manufacture ‘specials’ or use our global supplier network to source replacements where units are beyond repair and standard replacements are not available.
